Convergence between Spain and Europe
The Community of Madrid holds one of the highest production ratios per employed person among the 27 EU countries, as well as one of the greatest rates of employment out of the total population. Its productivity is greater than the EU average, behind only those of Ireland, Belgium and France.
As a result the Community of Madrid surpasses all other 27 EU countries, with the exception of Luxembourg. According to the real convergence index (based on Gross Domestic Income per capita) elaborated by Funcas, Madrid’s per capita income is 129.25% of the European average.
In addition, the region shows a much greater labor input level than all 27 EU countries, similar to the employment rate out of the total population of the Netherlands.
