• The businesses wishing to set up in Tecnoalcalá should be innovative firms with a major R&D component. Priority is being given to businesses working in the following technology and sectors:

    - ICT: with special emphasis on those applications in information technology related to Health Sciences.
    - Businesses in the Pharmacy, Biotechnology and Genetics fields, and in general related to Life Sciences.
    - Businesses in clean chemical technology with major R&D&i content.

With regards to business organisations at the parks, the configuration of the latter varies a lot as per the wishes of promoters and circumstances in each case. Businesses in the Alcalá Science and Technology Park can be split into four large groups:

    1. Businesses or institutions with intense R&D work

    - Large company R&D departments.
    - Innovative small and medium enterprises which could perform all their business operations at the Park, as long as they comply with its regulations (environmental and others) and include R&D.
    - Joint R&D activities carried out at several businesses within a subsector Research Association or another type of organisation.

    2. Spin-off businesses, recently created, in some cases by University graduates and lecturers, which could be located in a business incubator.

    3. Large companies leading in R&D, whose example could act as a catalyst for other investments, as long as they were willing to locate a significant part of their innovative business in the Park.

    4. Businesses or institutions providing business services to clients inside and beyond the Park in two fields:

    - Technical Services: related to quality control, industrial design, certification, technology transfer, etc.
    - Other services relating to business innovation, not necessarily in technology fields, such as marketing consulting, financial engineering, legal advice, etc.
