Regional representatives from NEREUS-member regions, European Commission, ESA, French Ministry for Ecology etc… are going to debate the role of regions as political and economic decision makers to promote the development of space applications and services across Europe. In this context the participants will underline factors that favor and stimulate the emergence of space applications but also look at factors that are drawbacks to advance the downstream sector. With both EU-space flagships, EGNOS/Galileo and GMES increasingly growing operational, regions have a particular interest to exploit the potential of both space systems for the benefits of their citizens and regional purposes. Thus strong emphasis will be put on the significance of space technologies as a tool for territorial and horizontal policies such as boosting innovation dynamics, regional development and supporting SME in Europe.
